AKila K is not your average “female rapper”

If style and grace could get together with rugged and edgy, they’d result in AKila K.  The Brooklyn, NY native is no stranger to the culture; from growing up listening to rappers such as Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, The Fugees and more, to participating in Brooklyn’s annual Labor Day Weekend celebrations, her versatility and relatability pours through her music for her listeners to hear. Currently residing on Long Island, AKila K has been exposed to both urban and suburban life. Getting the "best of both worlds" has allowed her to view art and life through different perspectives. All of these experiences can be heard and felt in her music. Skilled in the stylings of Hip Hop and lyricism, AKila K is also a spoken word artist and plays various instruments, mainly the steelpan (a Caribbean instrument originating in Trinidad & Tobago). She has infused her West Indian roots into her music with the addition of her steelpan. In 2021, AKila K released her 2nd EP When the EP Droppin? (#WTEPD?). Following that was the release of her debut album When the Album Dropping?, the finale of the series, in July of 2022. Fully independent, AKila K released her EP Hear Me Out….. last fall. Currently, AKila K is making headway in NYC’s independent music scene with the release of her 2nd album, Hear Me Out….. I SAID WHAT I SAID!, the continuation of her previous EP. From the first listen, you can tell AKila K is going to be around for a long time. With the wave of new artists coming out of New York today, AKila K is here to carry the torch……and carry it farther.
